On the Nov. 27 broadcast of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa, 54, spoke about the sound of her own voice and how it has changed over her years in the spotlight.

The episode started with Ripa and her cohost/husband Mark Consuelos discussing whether they like their own voices. After Consuelos, 53, admitted that he gets “uncomfortable” at the sound of his voice, Ripa began to explain the psychology behind it.

She noted that researchers have found an association between “how our voice is perceived in our hearing organs and the psychological and social pressures associated with how someone speaks.”

“It’s very interesting,” Ripa said of the findings. “Oftentimes, my daughter will send me a video of me on this show from 20 years ago or me in a clip from me on Hope & Faith.”

She continued, “And yes, I know I was younger so I sound younger. But, also, I believe that a certain amount of that was terror.”

Ripa said that in the earlier days of her hosting the ABC talk show she “was terrified” so she naturally spoke in a higher octave.

The talk show host added, “Then performing a sitcom in front of a live studio audience, my voice was even higher then. I think it was just being so uncomfortable and nervous, and not really breathing deeply into my diaphragm and relaxing into my voice.”

However, Consuelos could not relate to Ripa’s experience as he noted that his voice has “always been down here.”

Ripa agreed, saying that he has “a very deep voice” but observed that she thinks his voice sounds higher while he is hosting the talk show.

“Really? Well now I won’t be able to listen to it,” he responded.

She further stated that his voice is lower when she gets “a message” from him.

Sweetly, he said, “Yeah, [I’m] a little more relaxed when I’m talking to you.”

On last week’s episode of the show, Ripa gushed about her husband’s appearance while talking about his latest campaign for Stuart Weitzman and sharing a nearly nude photos of him modeling a pair of shoes.

“I am happy to announce that Mark, yes, our Mark, Mark Consuelos, is the first-ever Stuart Weitzman men’s global brand ambassador,” Ripa said before unveiling the sexy pictures. “I got ahold of some of the photos from the photoshoot. Would you like to see? Believe it or not, this man is selling shoes. That’s right, shoes!”

The photos showed Consuelos’ abs on full display as he modeled the shoes in little clothing.

“I was like, what? Are there shoes involved in this?” she joked. “Yes, shoes. Shoes and underpants!”
