How Fire Country’s Sheriff Spinoff Will Expand On Mickey & Sharon’s Relationship Teased By Star: “That’s What I’m Excited [For]”
Fire Country star Diane Farr explains how the upcoming Sheriff Country spinoff will expand on the relationship between Sharon and Mickey. Homeland and Deadpool‘s Morena Baccarin is set to lead the first Fire Country spinoff, titled Sheriff Country, which is focused on her character Mickey Fox, the step-sister of Sharon (Farr), and a Sheriff’s Sergeant. The character was introduced in a season 2 episode, which delved into the complicated relationship between the sisters. Sheriff Country is expected to premiere on CBS sometime in 2025.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, Farr talked about her excitement in terms of delving into the complicated bond between Sharon and Mickey. The actor noted that the two step-sisters can be tough with each other, explaining how that can be fun to play and how Mickey brings about a different side of Sharon. Read the quote below:
I’m so excited to develop this relationship among sisters that’s not squishy. They are so tough with each other, and it’s the only place where Sharon has no status. She has broken things, she has done things poorly. She’s like low man on the totem pole, and the other person is constantly chewing her, like, on her. That’s what I’m so excited [for]. Like, we always laugh that it’s so fun to see two sisters with no treacle, they’re just hard with each other. But I love Sharon having no status, like she’s constantly questioning herself, because we never see her do that anywhere else.
What Farr’s Comments Mean For Sheriff Country
Sharon Will Likely Guest Star
Mickey’s arrival as part of Fire Country‘s characters comes in the episode “Alert the Sheriff,” and it’s immediately clear that she shares an uneasy history with Mickey. Among other things, Mickey arrested a young Bode (Max Thieriot) and Sharon is still a bit angry about that. She wonders if Mickey couldn’t have simply warned her son instead, rather than send him down a dangerous path. The episode deals, in large part, with whether the two siblings can arrive at an understanding.
They do get there by the episode’s end, but there’s still a lot of history to resolve. They were a family as teenagers. Now, older and with lives of their own, they have to figure out how to be a family again. Mickey hasn’t appeared on the CBS drama since “Alert the Sheriff.” Still, whether or not she makes an appearance in Fire Country season 3, there’s a lot of story for the spinoff to pick up on, and Farr could have a recurring role, since Mickey’s story is already entangled with Sharon’s.
Our Take On The Fire Country Spinoff
It’s Going Beyond Bode
One of the smart things the CBS hit is doing as it considers a second spinoff with Jared Padalecki is that it’s expanding the focus beyond Bode. Even though he’ll remain crucial to the series, it enriches the universe when there is more of an understanding of the overall Fire Country cast. The spinoff can further deepen Sharon’s side of the story while simply expanding the universe’s scope by taking on the Sheriff’s office. Though Fire Country may have begun as Bode’s story, he’s only opened the door for a number of different arcs.
