Mark Consuelos fell in love with Kelly Ripa at first sight when he met her on the set of “All my Children” (they were both in different relationships at the time)
Mark Consuelos has got some great natural features.
On a new episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, he and Kelly Ripa got to reminiscing about their days on All My Children.
During the segment, aired on Feb. 20, Ripa remembered all the times crew had to stop filming because they’d mistakenly think Consuelos was wearing makeup when he wasn’t supposed to be. But nope, it was just his natural eyelashes.
“When Mark was on All My Children, they would routinely stop, call cut, and then say, ‘Take off his eyeliner.’ Then the makeup artist would walk up to Mark and go, ‘He’s not wearing any eyeliner that’s just his eyelashes.'” Ripa said.
She then came to the conclusion that her husband was just born with eyelashes that emphasize his look, much like eyeliner would.

Ripa and Consuelos met on the set of the series. She had been playing Haley Vaughan since 1990 before he entered the cast as Mateo Santos in 1995. The couple eloped to Las Vegas and married on May 1, 1996. They went on to welcome three children: sons Michael, 27, and Joaquin, 21, and daughter Lola, 23,
In a 1999 interview with PEOPLE, Ripa recalled how she had met the “gorgeous” Consuelos for the first time on set. “I looked really gross,” she admitted, adding that she retreated to primp and then dashed back to officially meet her now-husband. “I wanted him to see me looking like a normal person!”

Consuelos, however, was wowed by Ripa on first impression. On the Feb. 12 episode of SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, the Riverdale alum said he thought Ripa was “hilarious” and “adorable” and yes, he did notice her “big curl rollers.”
He also remembered the very moment he was taken aback by her beauty when he came over to her apartment to rehearse his lines for when he had to re-audition for his role (they were both in different relationships at the time).
“I was like, ‘Wow, she’s got really beautiful eyes.’ Her cheekbones are very specific, her hair is amazing, but her eyes and lips were, I was like, ‘Wow, she’s got great lips,”” he said, adding that the outfit Ripa wore then reminded him of a “French vixen.”
After leaving the series in 2002, the couple reprised their roles for the 40th anniversary special in 2010. A decade later they revealed that they were working on a spinoff series, titled Pine Valley, as executive producers.
In September 2024, A&E Networks confirmed to PEOPLE that Lifetime is working on an All My Children holiday movie based in Pine Valley, the fictional Philadelphia town where the original series took place.
