Though Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been married since 1996 and share three grown children, the longtime Hollywood couple had other relationships before settling down with each other.
Ripa touched on that subject on the March 11 episode of their talk show, Live with Kelly and Mark, sharing that she’s had her fair share of run-ins with Consuelos’ exes.
The conversation started when Consuelos teased that, in the same way people play down how much alcohol they consume when talking to their doctor, people tend to fudge the numbers when their new partners ask them about previous relationships.
“When you roll up to the drive-thru in Florida and the woman handing you your lunch says, ‘I used to date your husband,’ you don’t need to know anything else,” Ripa said as the audience groaned before erupting into cheers. Consuelos laughed gleefully, quipping that “Tampa’s a very loving city.”
Ripa then launched into a story of a time when they ran into another ex. She said the couple had taken their youngest son Joaquin to a wrestling tournament in New Jersey, and Consuelos teased that since they were close to where Ripa grew up, they were bound to run into one of her ex-boyfriends.
Ripa said the likelihood was small, and not only was she correct that they wouldn’t run into anyone from her past, but they instead ran into someone from her husband’s past “within three seconds,” as one of Consuelos’ ex-girlfriends from Florida was there with her kids.
“Her sons were good wrestlers, too! They are, they’re great,” said Consuelos, prompting Ripa to declare, “So I rest my case. The people rest!”
