‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers suggest that Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) heart is running out of time. He’s delaying the life-saving heart procedure he needs, and he may soon require emergency surgery.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny Was Warned Not To Postpone His Heart Procedure
There is a significant possibility that he’ll be the first patient at the Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) cardiac center at General Hospital.
Sonny has known he has a serious heart condition for a few months now. He’s been advised not to wait to have surgery, but he’s putting it off until he feels his family is safe, which isn’t exactly a wise plan.
An incident at the gym was the first time he told anyone he’d been suffering from chest pain. Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) prescribed him heart medication to help with his cardiac episodes but gave him a fair warning that his condition would only worsen unless he sought medical treatment.
Natalia Rameriz (Eva LaRue) and Isaiah convinced Sonny to see a heart specialist. Brick (Stephen A. Smith) set him up with a cardiologist in Los Angeles to keep his mob enemies from discovering his health issue and subsequently taking advantage.
Sonny’s heart condition stems from his taking a bullet in the chest several years ago. We’re not sure which of the many times he was shot resulted in his condition, but the heart specialist informed him he would need surgery within the next three months. We’re vastly approaching the cutoff time.
Sonny confided in Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis). He tried his best to protect his loved ones, but Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) also found out. She recently had to administer his pills to him when he collapsed after a fight with Ava Jerome (Maura West).

Sonny has been desperately trying to keep this a secret, but we have a feeling it will come down to him having emergency surgery at the new cardiac wing.
Sonny is also supposed to limit his stress, but Kristina is spiraling out of control. Ava is about to piece together that she was the one who cut the brakes on Ric Lansing’s (Rick Hearst) car, intending to kill her. Unfortunately, Ric and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) were in the car crash she caused.
Ava is not about to pass up this golden opportunity to blackmail Sonny. She wants money and Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Avery and Grace Scarola). Not to mention, Sonny’s primary focus has been finding out who blew up his penthouse, which led to a fire that almost killed Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell).
Now, his son is recovering from horrific injuries at a burn unit in Germany. Sonny thinks he can have the surgery performed at his convenience. He has put off the procedure for far too long, and it’s bound to end in disaster.
We have a sneaking suspicion that Sonny will require emergency surgery in the coming May sweeps. It will be too late to have it out of town so that he can avoid his mob rivals. We hope he comes to his senses soon and takes care of his health while he still has options.
