Will Trent

Will Trent Season 3 has quietly done one of its character redemption storylines – Will and Angie getting back together.

Each Will Trent character has been well-developed throughout the show’s three seasons, which is why it’s as good as it is, but one figure stands out among the rest, as they have impressed me with their astonishing redemption arc. The ABC police procedural series follows Will Trent, a highly-skilled GBI agent with a traumatic past. Will is joined by his partner, Faith Mitchell, his on-and-off lover and APD detective, Angie Polaski, Angie’s partner, Michael Ormewood, and his boss, Amanda Wagner. Together, they make up the main cast of Will Trent.

Will Trent has been renewed for season 4, which will premiere sometime during the 2025–2026 network TV season.

Will Trent Update Confirms New Character Won't Return For The Rest Of Season 3

Given the show’s title, Will Trent has mostly focused on Will, who is undoubtedly one of TV’s most complex characters. Everything that happened in his past shaped him into the person he is today, and as the series continues, he keeps on developing (and regressing). However, Will is surrounded by characters just as complicated and intriguing. One person in particular has undergone one of the best redemption arcs on TV, seeing as they were horrible to watch in season 1, and now they’re one of the best parts of Will Trent season 3.

Ormewood Went From Will Trent’s Worst Character To One Of Its Best In Season 3

Jake McLaughlin’s Character Was Horrible In Season 1

If someone had told me back in season 1 that I’d want to see more of Ormewood in Will Trent season 3, I would have laughed in their face. When the ABC series began, Ormewood was easily the show’s worst character. Whenever he was on the screen, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. Ormewood was all but a corrupt cop who cheated on his wife and used his authority for personal gain. He simply had no redeemable qualities, but that has all changed in the past two seasons.

Will Trent' resolves season 3 mystery about Will's past

Ormewood has proved himself and is now one of the most endearing, funny characters in Will Trent season 3. Not only is he the show’s comedic relief, but Ormewood is arguably the person most in tune with their emotions. The turnaround is impressive, to say the least. Perhaps all Ormewood needed was for his wife to leave him, which was devastating, but also necessary for his character development. The work he has done to improve himself, make himself a better father, cop, and friend is commendable, and that’s why it’s so devastating to learn about his brain tumor in season 3, episode 14.
