Kelly Ripa Tells ‘Live’ She “Kept Doing Wellness Checks” On Mark Consuelos
Kelly Ripa helped Mark Consuelos navigate a “rough” Monday night watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lose to the Kansas City Chiefs — from the bathroom.
Consuelos mourned the loss on Live with Kelly and Mark on Tuesday, noting that the “Chiefs ended up winning in overtime.”
Ripa shared that her father, who is a Detroit Lions fan, “woke up at 6 a.m. to rub it in [Consuelos’] face that the Bucs lost.”
“It is a level of devotion, especially because his Lions are doing so well,” she elaborated, “that it’s not enough for the Lions to win. It’s that Mark’s Bucs have to lose for the circle to be complete.”
Consuelos lamented the time commitment of tuning into Monday Night Football, noting that “it starts around 8:15 and it goes until almost midnight.”
“If you put the time in to watch it, you want to at least go to bed feeling good,” he said. “So that’s twice in a month that I’ve been thinking about that.”
Ripa then revealed where she was located throughout the game.
“What was interesting was, I stayed in the bathroom,” she teased. “I stayed in the bathroom until I could not stay there any longer because I have a job and I have work and I have to go to bed.”
She explained that she “kept doing wellness checks” on her husband and co-host throughout the game, since he “was in the bedroom [and] he had the television.”
“So I was reading a book in the bathroom,” she added, as Consuelos asked, “Were you sitting or laying down?”
Ripa assured him and the audience that they “have a chair in there” that she was comfortably seated on.
“I don’t want you to think I was, like, sitting on the toilet,” she quipped. “I was sitting in a chair, and I was reading a book. I was very comfortable. I was not suffering at all.”
However, she clarified that she “did, in fact, want to go to bed,” but “every time [she] checked in, it was fourth quarter.”
“By the way, fourth quarter lasts for eleventeen hours,” she teased. “Then it went into overtime, because of course it did. And then I finally came to bed, and then they lost, and I thought, ‘Did I cause that? Did me leaving the bathroom cause the loss?’”
Consuelos quipped, “Crossed my mind.”
