Kelly Ripa Shivers At The Idea Of “Corneal Tattooing” On ‘Live’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos shared their thoughts on a procedure that is “surging in popularity” — though not among the two of them.

Ripa dished on the “new $12,000 surgery” on Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday that allows people to “change the color of [their] eyes,” and took a second to issue a bit of a PSA.

“Now look, ladies, listen to me. If you’re going to spend $12 grand, I can tell you better ways to spend it,” she insisted. “You know what I mean?”

Consuelos added, “A little lift here, a little tuck there.”

Ripa echoed her original statement, noting that “there’s so many ways that you can spend that $12 grand to give you great results.”

“I love all the different eye colors. You have the most chocolatey brown eyes and I love them,” she told Consuelos, eliciting some “awws” from the audience. “I wouldn’t even recognize you if you changed your eye color. It would be very strange.”

Live‘s EP Michael Gelman chimed in to share that “some people are doing the husky thing” with two different colored eyes, which Consuelos likened to David Bowie.

Ripa read out some examples of people opting for the procedure, including “some people [who] do it to look more like their family members” and “one young man changed one of his brown eyes to blue.”

“The procedure is keratopigmentation. It’s corneal tattooing,” she uttered with a shiver.

Consuelos responded with a swift “no thank you,” asserting that he “wouldn’t do that.”

Ripa admitted, “I just got, like, faint reading that. I can’t really continue on.”
