Kelly Ripa slams critics, tells them to ‘get a life’ after ‘controversy’ over Thanksgiving sides

Kelly Ripa has inadvertently wedged an even further divide across America’s Thanksgiving dinner tables, after the morning talk show icon stoked an intense debate over “stuffing” vs. “dressing” as the appropriate title for the beloved side.

One day after igniting discourse over the proper title for the holiday dish when she discussed a recent article on the topic, the 54-year-old kicked off Wednesday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Mark with a stern message for trolls coming for her over the featherweight issue.

“Yesterday, I simply read an article that I didn’t write,” Ripa said. “So, don’t shoot the messenger. But, the messenger was attacked viciously. I talked about the difference between stuffing and dressing. I mean, forget any political discourse. The real discourse are the people arguing about stuffing and dressing.”

Ripa then briefly summarized the issue, noting that there are regional differences in how some refer to the popular side dish.

“But you, you at home, informed me that I, Kelly Ripa, am wrong again,” Ripa said, adding that she would read feedback she received, but wasn’t going to read some of the “ones on social media” because they were too harsh.

“Basically, I’m going to say something: Get a life, honestly. Just get one. Calm down,” she said. “If you’re worried about this, then congratulations, you don’t have actual problems.”

Later, Ripa and her cohost-husband Mark Consuelos even brought celebrity interview guest Scarlett Johansson into the mix by asking for her take on the debate.

“What I understand is dressing is kind of southern. It’s stuffing, but they call it dressing?” Johansson asked, with Consuelos stepping in to correct the actress.

“We said that yesterday! But, we got hate!” he said. “Stuffing is what goes inside the turkey, if it doesn’t go inside the turkey, if it’s on the side, it’s dressing.”

Ripa stepped in to remind her husband: “According to some on the internet, who have a lot of time on their hands.”
