The pair are set to both be relocated to the network’s new studios in downtown Manhattan by June when Good Morning America leaves the Times Square studio. Kelly has already moved into the new premises with her show Live with Kelly and Mark, which she co-hosts with her husband, Mark Consuelos.

An insider has confirmed that the new GMA set will be in very close proximity to Kelly’s with both of the brand new studios located on the basement level with a shared hallway and elevator. The source told the New York Post: “They will be feet away from each other – he will be able to smell her perfume. The staff is on tenterhooks. These two do not speak.”

Kelly and Michael very famously fell out when he upped and left Live! With Kelly and Michael to join Good Morning America without letting her know his plans.

Sources have said that ABC. are already implementing plans to stop the pair from crossing paths with Good Morning America on air between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. while Live with Kelly and Mark airs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The insider said: “Plans are in place to get Michael and Kelly in and out without crossing paths. The good news is they both tend to leave pretty quickly after taping. Still, if their schedules overlap, ABC will need a Plan B.”

However, an ABC spokesperson on Thursday insisted in an emailed statement: “There is absolutely no truth to this – both Kelly and Michael are consummate professionals and are excited to continue to co-host their top-rated shows in our new state of the art studios.”

Kelly and Michael famously fell out when she was told of his career change just one hour before it was publicly announced. She then didn’t turn up to work for a week prompting ABC News president at the time Ben Sherwood to apologize to her to get her to return.

In 2019 Michael spoke on the issue as she told Time and People that he and Kelly were not friends and were no longer on speaking terms. In 2020 he then told the New York Times that he does not “hate” Kelly and respects how “good she is at her job.”

But he stressed that there were “certain things that were going on behind the scenes” that made him realize “it was time to go.” He added that he had grown to feel like a “sidekick” rather than a “partner.”
