First Jake. Then Bode. Then Diego. Now Casey? As Fire Country‘s Gabriela Perez reunites with an ex-boyfriend, an even hotter romance could be on the horizon — and it may be her ticket to leaving Edgewater for good.
Do Gabriela and Camden get together in Fire Country?
Fire Country showrunner Tia Napolitano confirmed in an interview with TV Insider after the Season 3 fall finale that a romance is brewing between Gabriela and SoCal firefighter Camden Casey (played by Jared Padalecki) after a flirty bar scene between them during Season 3, Episode 6, “Not Without My Birds.” “That was intentional. That was one of my favorite outs of an episode this year,” Napolitano said when asked about the episode’s ending scene, which saw Gabriela giving Camden a cheers before she downed a shot of alcohol.
A romance between Gabriela and Camden could create yet another love triangle for Edgewater’s so-called “golden girl,” who just got back together with her ex-boyfriend, Jake Crawford, in the Season 3 fall finale,” False Alarm,” who broke up in Season 1. The couple rekindled their romance in Season 3 after Gabriela and Jake hooked up following her failed attempt to get back together with her other ex, Bode Donovan, whom she left Jake for in Fire Country’s first season.
Fire Country Season 3’s fall finale seemed to confirm that Gabriela and Jake’s Season 3 hookup was more than just a rebound when the two have a vulnerable conversation about their past relationship. A Camden and Jake love triangle also wouldn’t be the first time Fire Country — or Gabriela, for that matter — has dove into a love triangle. Along with Jake and Bode in Season 1, Gabriela was also involved in a love triangle with Bode and her ex-fiance, Diego Moreno, in Season 2. The couple were set to get married in the Season 2 finale before their wedding was interrupted by a helicopter crash that eventually led Gabriela to break up with Diego.
If Gabriela and Camden get together (and are end game), it could also be Fire Country‘s way of writing her off to join Camden’s upcoming spinoff centered around his job with SoCal Fire. News first broke of the spinoff in September 2024 with Deadline reporting that the new series was in very early stages with the working title Fire Country: Surfside. Along with Camden’s new series, another Fire Country spinoff, titled Sheriff Country, is also in the works led by Morena Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey Fox, who made her debut as a guest star in Fire Country Season 3.
