Fire Country Spinoff Update – Not What Fans Are Expecting

When Supernatural alum Jared Padalecki guest starred in a three-show storyline on Fire Country during the first half of Season 3, there was a buzz that the stint could turn into a spinoff for the Captain Camden Casey role he was playing.

Jared Padalecki's Exciting Update Is Bad News For Camden Casey's Fire Country Spinoff

Now a report has been released with an interesting update that may shock Fire Country fans. CTS has the scoop below.

Fire Country Spinoff Update – Not What Fans Are Expecting

According to Deadline, Padalecki is slated to executive produce and star in a new CBS medical drama. The show is in development on the network and apparently does not conflict with the possible Fire Country spinoff, which has a working title of Fire Country: Surfside.

What’s The Status Of Fire Country’s Spinoff Starring Jared Padalecki? Here’s What We Know

The medical drama is only in the early stages and has yet to be given CBS’s “okay.” If it does happen, it’ll air after the Sheriff Country spinoff series airs next season.

It helps that both the medical series and Fire Country spinoff are with CBS. In addition, the actor has a first-look deal with the studio.

Fire Country Spinoff Update – No Working Title

While Fire Country: Surfside has yet to be picked up, it’s important to note that the medical drama does not have a title and is still very early in development. As such, it might be long before any concrete information about either series is revealed.

At the very least, if a Fire Country spin-off with Padalecki isn’t picked up, there’s always the potential for him to guest star on the OG show once again, but that’s hard to say at this point.

Still, with a possible Fire Country spin-off and new medical drama being considered by CBS, it’s nice to see that the actor is in demand following the cancellation of CW’s reboot of Walker.

The show was canceled last summer, ending on a cliffhanger after James Van Der Beek was introduced as a mysterious character. Padalecki ended up going off on CW’s new management for mishandling the show.

Still, his new deal with CBS Studios seems to be going well when it comes to new opportunities, so it’ll be interesting to see what the actor does next.
