Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ Live Broadcast Goes Wrong: ‘Show has hit the skids’

The sonic phantoms that have long plagued The View have finally wafted over to terrorize the set of Live With Kelly and Mark.

Celebrity couple and on-air cohosts Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa navigated an onslaught of noise-based terrorism on Tuesday morning’s live show, which began with the sounds of a muffled microphone sounding over the pair’s host chat.

“What’s that noise? Is that my mic?” Consuelos finally said, after the second round of muffled mic chaos sounding in his ear.

Producer Michael Gelman could be heard off-camera confirming that it might’ve been his feed, prompting Ripa to improvise a celebration of current events: “Oh my gosh, Gelman has been silenced? What? It’s gonna be 44 [degrees] on Monday and Gelman’s been silenced?”

The cohosts continued with their opening remarks, which revolved around skipping school as kids — until the sound of an audience member’s ringing cell phone pierced through the conversation (watch in the video above).

After the second ring, Consuelos looked toward the crowd and cocked his head to the side, while Ripa smiled and addressed the camera.

“This show has hit the skids!” Ripa exclaimed, returning her focus to the audience member. “Tell your mom we’ll call her back! ‘I just saw you on TV!’ That’s how that conversation was about to go!”

Consuelos attempted to put the show back on the rails but comically gave up.

“Who knows. I was telling a story, but I don’t care!” he said.
