Live With Kelly and Mark Reveals Big Change: ‘We Bid a Fond Farewell’
It’s the end of an era! Live With Kelly and Mark is making a huge move with their annual fan-favorite tradition. For decades, the daytime talk show has gone all out for Halloween – but there’s about to be a big change with what fans are used to.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are marking their last Halloween episode… in their current studio. Fear not, the Halloween show will continue after this year, just in a new location.
Ripa and Consuelos are planning to go out with a bang, however, according to a video promoting the Halloween episode. The promo, which features an Only Murders in the Building theme, includes a montage of some of their past costumes from over the years, including Ricky and Lucy, Sonny and Cher, Barbie and Ken, and other favorites.
“Live has been daytime’s home for Halloween and, as we make our final Halloween show in our home of nearly four decades and prepare to head to a brand new studio, we bid a fond farewell to a history of horrors,” the narrator explains in the promo video. “And celebrate a tradition of terror for one last time in our beloved studio. Just this one day, it’s only Halloween in the building.”
A press release for the special holiday episode gives a hint at what to expect, including a “mysterious take on the biggest pop-culture moments of the past year,” with “the show’s special nod to “Only HALLOWEEN (Murders) in the Building.” The release notes, “From parodies of famous celebrity couples to groundbreaking sports events, from iconic Halloween cinema moments to wild takes on blockbuster animation and more, the show is jam-packed with intrigue, artful hilarity, elaborate costumes, emotional tricks, traitorous treats and FUN.”
The release adds, “40 incredible costumes, skits, music, dancing, singing and a few special surprises and celebrity guests with many shocking twists and turns! “
Live With Kelly and Mark is soon making the move from their studio on the Upper West Side, where the show has been taped for nearly 40 years, to a new location. Earlier this month, they announced the move to a “fancy schmancy state-of-the-art studio in SoHo.”
During the October 1 episode of Live, Ripa shared that they went “to tour the new studios because our show is finally moving to a new location,” adding, “But that’s not going to happen for some time.”
She continued, “Allegedly, we’re moving downtown to this fancy schmancy state-of-the-art studio in SoHo. SoHo, where we used to live, and this would have been convenient for us. But as soon as we move to the Upper East Side, now we want to move to SoHo. OK, whatever.”
Another daytime show recently announced that it’s breaking with Halloween tradition in a huge way – The View is opting to skip the costumes this year and focus on the election.
