Mario Lopez Claims Mark Consuelos Had An “Unfair Advantage” In People’s Sexiest TV Host Race Because He’s “Both Mexican And Italian”: “Produces Nothing But Beauty”

It may feel like old news that Mark Consuelos was crowned People‘s Sexiest TV Host, but one of his fellow nominees is now addressing his win — and it’s not Jimmy Fallon.

On Live with Kelly and Mark‘s Viewers Choice Show today, Consuelos and Kelly Ripa looked back on the past year’s most memorable moments on their syndicated morning show. Coming in at #2 was Consuelos’ victory, preceded by the Tonight Show host’s plea for Consuelos and fellow competitors Mario Lopez and Seth Meyers to concede the race against him.

Consuelos highlighted how “gracious” Fallon was when he lost, recalling how Fallon sent him an extravagant floral arrangement in honor of his victory.

“Those flowers were all the flowers in the universe,” Ripa quipped on Friday’s episode. “I’m not kidding.”

Consuelos teased, “Yeah, they have a shortage of white roses now in America.”

Ripa replied, “That’s true. And I’m sure Jimmy was fine with your win. I mean, it was an honor for him just to be nominated. I mean, as a matter of fact, I think we in fact have a message from one of the other sexiest nominees.”

Viewers were then treated to a video from Lopez congratulating Consuelos on the coveted title.

“Consuelos, what’s up man. Your boy, Mario Lopez, right here,” he began. “Congratulations on being People magazine’s sexiest host of the year. With all due respect, you kind of had an unfair advantage being both Mexican and Italian. That’s a hell of a combo right there. That just produces nothing but beauty. Congrats brother. I’m coming for you next year. God bless.”

While Consuelos thanked Lopez, Ripa was thrilled by the message, teasing that they “have a new fight on [their] hands.”

“Forget Jimmy and Mark. It’s now Mark v. Mario! I love that!” she exclaimed.

As Consuelos jokingly squared up, Ripa added, “You know what? Get me some popcorn and just give me a front row seat.”
