Mark Consuelos requests ‘immunity’ from talking about ‘sensitive’ topics with Kelly Ripa: ‘Always asking for immunity’
“Well, hello, that’s a little bit suspect!” interview guest Cate Blanchett observed of the revelation.
Just one day after Mark Consuelos’ precarious pants zipper nearly unleashed a wealth of secrets to the Live audience, he and wife Kelly Ripa continued the trend by giving viewers a peek into the inner-workings of their marriage.
The celebrity couple and morning TV cohosts welcomed Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett to the show on Thursday morning, and, during a discussion about underlying secrecy between a pair of married spies in her new movie Black Bag, they revealed that there might be some safeguards in place to prevent inadvertent complications at home.
“He’s always asking for immunity,” Ripa said of Consuelos, with Consuelos confirming that, “When a perception is asked and I have to tell her what I think is the truth about a certain topic that I feel might be sensitive, I get immunity.”
Blanchett observed, “Well, hello, that’s a little bit suspect!” before asking about topics that the disclaimer applies to: “Like, ‘Does my hair look okay?'”
Consuelos quickly shot down the speculation, repeating, “No, no, no, nothing like that,” though Ripa contradicted him. “Correct!” she said. “He asks for immunity from those things.”

Blanchett segued the conversation back to the film and her working life behind the scenes, including co-founding a production company, Dirty Films, with husband Andrew Upton, which she said has led to some things “that you just don’t want to talk about” with your spouse in a professional setting.
The topic of secrecy recalled an exchange the couple had last week on the show, involving Consuelos recounting instances where Ripa was prone to exposing his “foibles” to other people.
“I feel like we all knew that you’re a little bit cagey, so we’re a little bit cagey around you. We don’t divulge too much information,” Ripa said. “Like I always say, you’ll really know me after I pass away and you inherit my journals, and you come in in book 3, chapter 7. So, get right to that point, because I know you don’t care about anything that happens before that!”
