The best: ‘Fire Country’ Cast Encourage Red Cross Donations Amid Wildfires, Thank First Responders Risking Their Lives: ‘You Are True Heroes’
The “Fire Country” cast has come together to support the first responders who are helping with the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires and asking for viewers to do everything they can to help.
“We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the firefighters and first responders who are risking their lives and tirelessly battling the wildfires in southern California. You are true heroes,” co-creator and star of the CBS drama Max Thieriot says in the PSA video above.
Cast members Stephanie Arcila (Gabriela in the drama) and Jules Latimer (Eve) then share information on how to help, directing viewers to redcross.org/cbs.
In another PSA video, below, Thieriot is joined by Kevin Alejandro (who portrays Manny in the show), while Billy Burke (Vince) and Diane Farr (Sharon) also encourage Red Cross donations.
“Those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires urgently need support. Help the American Red Cross provide meals and shelter,” Thieriot says. Burke adds, “Please donate today by going to redcross.org/cbs.”
Cast members from “The Neighborhood,” “Ghosts,” “Poppa’s House,” “Elsbeth” and “NCIS” also filmed PSA messages, that will air on the network during primetime.
“Fire Country” aired its fall finale Dec. 14 with an intense cliffhanger after an aggressive wildfire began consuming homes, putting many firefighters’ lives at risk. The series, which follows both Northern California firefighters and prisoners who assist the department, was set to return on Jan. 10. The episode was pulled in the wake of the events happening in California, and replaced with a Season 1 episode of “NCIS: Sydney.”
While all scripted series on CBS are in reruns this week, new episodes of “Fire Country” will resume on Jan. 31.
This week, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) shared that more than 1,000 incarcerated people were assisting the firefighters in stopping the spread of flames that have killed at least 25 people across Los Angeles County.
