Tragic Update!! This Dangerous New ‘Will Trent’ Storyline Is Going To End Badly
Occasionally, a television character will make a decision that is clearly going to blow up in their face down the road, and there is nothing that viewers can do but wait it out and enjoy the angst and drama in the meantime. This describes the ending of the most recent episode of Will Trent, which sees the stakes raised once more, both physically and emotionally. Now nearly through its third season, Will Trent is plummeting toward both a dangerous situation and an explosive emotional confrontation.
Season 3, Episode 9 sees Will (Ramón Rodríguez) and Faith (Iantha Richardson) investigate the murder of a rapper, H. Beltline (LaRonn Marzett), which ends up hitting close to home. In the process of the investigation, the two end up at a recording studio looking for answers. It turns out that that is the studio where Faith’s son, Jeremy (Deion Smith), now works. The studio is also owned by none other than Rafael (Antwayn Hopper). The murder may have been solved, but this storyline is far from over, and it’s going to have some serious consequences.
Rafael Is at the Center of ‘Will Trent’s Latest Episode
This episode finally gives a look into Jeremy’s new dream job at the recording studio. However, the job isn’t what he thought it would be, because it turns out he is working for Rafael. When Will and Faith go there to investigate, Faith warns Jeremy about Rafael, and Jeremy responds very harshly. Rafael realizes that Jeremy is Faith’s son, so he fires him, but he plans to keep the song that Jeremy recorded there. Desperate to get his job back, Jeremy agrees to deliver a suitcase for Rafael, but gets arrested in the process with a suitcase full of meth.
Meanwhile, the tensions between Rafael and Will continue to build in this episode. We still don’t know what Rafael did for Will back in the day that cost him so greatly and led to their falling out. The show is clearly working up to this reveal, and things have escalated between the two of them more than ever. Will and Rafael actually box each other in this episode, and at the end of the episode, Will works on a plan to take Rafael down.
In ‘Will Trent’s Latest Episode, Jeremy Becomes Will’s Confidential Informant

While delivering the bag for Rafael, Jeremy is unfairly pulled over for driving too slowly, and the police even search his car. It is there that they find the meth, but Will gets word of it and steps in. Will was unwilling to break the law last season for Angie (Erika Christensen), and he isn’t about to break the law now because he still has his unrelenting sense of right and wrong. Nevertheless, Will isn’t about to let his partner’s son’s life be ruined over such a small mistake either, so he saves the day.
Will tells the police who arrested Jeremy that Jeremy is his confidential informant working to take down Rafael, and he gets them to let Jeremy go and even keep his name out of the report. It could have ended there, but Will is determined to always follow the law, so he goes through with making Jeremy his informant. He sends Jeremy to finish the delivery, and then he commits to using Jeremy to take Rafael down. Will also tells Jeremy that nobody else can know, which means that both of them will be keeping this secret from Faith.
This Storyline Is Going to Test Will and Faith’s Partnership
Will and Faith’s partnership is the best relationship in Will Trent, and it is about to be majorly tested in the second half of Season 3. These two started off on the wrong foot when they first met, as Will was the one responsible for ending Faith’s mom, Evelyn’s (LisaGay Hamilton), career. However, they have since built a strong friendship and partnership, and they deeply trust each other and really enjoy one another’s company. This season started on a rough note for the two of them, because Will disappeared to Tennessee for six months in the wake of his heartbreak after arresting Angie.
Faith had a very hard time with Will being gone, and became surprisingly close with Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin) in his absence. She was furious and hurt when Will first got back, and they got past it, but that’s nothing compared to what’s coming. Faith loves Jeremy more than anyone in the world, and she is deeply protective of him. She would never have agreed to put Jeremy’s life in danger by making him a confidential informant, especially against someone as powerful as Rafael. Will knows that Faith wouldn’t agree to his plan, which is why he is keeping it from her. She will inevitably find out, though, and this will cause a major rift between the two of them that will not be easy to mend.
Will’s motivations come from a good place. With whatever tension and anger there is between him and Rafael, Rafael was there for him after foster care when he had no one, and it will be really hard for Will to have to take him down. Similarly, lying to Faith and putting her son in danger won’t be easy for him. Will is only doing this because he believes that it’s the only option, and he is unable to bring himself to pull strings or break any laws to protect Jeremy. He has to go above board with this, and that might be something that Faith could understand, because she knows him so well. This is about her son, however, and it’s going to be a monumental betrayal when she learns about it, especially after Will called her a good mother in this episode. The fight will be painful, but Will and Faith will undoubtedly come out of it even stronger.
New episodes of Will Trent air on Tuesday nights on ABC.
