‘Will Trent’ Season 3 Finale: Who’s the culprit, Michael and Ariana become a couple, Angie finds her romantic connection, and more
As Will and Faith continue with the investigation, the whole matter becomes clear, and the original kidnapper, a man named Lennox Riggins, is also arrested. A convicted assaulter and child kidnapper, who had even spent 15 years in prison for kidnapping, he had broken into the house of Abigail, where she lived with her single mother after the passing away of her father. Riggins beat the woman up and left her bound and gagged, before fleeing with the young girl. The Idaho police, who eventually arrest Riggins after being warned by the GBI, found 30,000 dollars in his car, which is seemingly the money that the man had been paid for the kidnapping. Sure enough, as Marion looks into the stash of money, it is revealed that it had been sent to Riggins by Harlan Jenner, which confirms that there is indeed a bigger trafficking ring being run by Harlan.
With the main kidnapper, and also surely Eleanor, arrested, Will and Faith have to find the young girl before it is too late, and they need to press Harlan since he is the only one who can lead them to her location. This is when Will comes up with a plan to trick Harlan into believing a long time has passed, so that he feels that the seller has already left the safehouse with Abigail, and gives them the location thinking that the girl has been taken away from the place. They make Harlan fall asleep and lose track of time first, before waking him up and restarting the interrogation, but this time with their watches intentionally set to three hours faster than the original time. This trick works wonders, and Harlan gives them the location of Abigail, although only after signing a document which states that the GBI and the APD will not press charges against him.
This ensures that the GBI sends a unit to the hotel that he mentions immediately, and young Abigail is finally rescued. However, the detectives also ensure that the leader of this racket, Harlan Jenner, is not able to get away so easily, despite having signed documents stating that their departments will not be able to prosecute him. In his criminal endeavors, Harlan had crossed state borders, and his actions also included financial scams, which meant that the FBI could easily investigate him, and Amanda had ensured this by contacting the FBI and getting an officer already waiting at the office. Thus, in the end, Will and Faith do manage to bring down the child trafficking racket and also arrest each of the perpetrators involved.
Will Michael And Ariana Really Be A Couple?
Michael Ormewood had mentioned in season 3 episode 7 that he has taken up a second job to be able to afford the expenses he has had to bear for his divorce, and in episode 8, we finally get a glimpse of his new job. Michael has basically started to work as a private security officer, and since it is his day off at the APD, he spends the whole duration of the episode on his new job. The celebrity host and actress, Ariana Madix (the real-life host of Love Island USA), has hired the APD detective for a special job—to provide her and the others security at an intervention she has planned for her best friend. As is revealed later in the episode, Ariana was best friends with Rina, a schoolmate, until she left the city and eventually stopped keeping in touch, at least in a significant way. Thus, when Rina started doing hard drugs like cocaine and then got addicted to them, Ariana could not do anything to help her. She has now returned with a solid determination to help her friend out, and it is for this reason that she plans the intervention.
However, the intervention does not go as planned, and Rina manages to escape from the house to take refuge at an abandoned building that is being used as a drug den. In the process of finding out about this location, Michael and Ariana get to know each other better, as the APD officer opens up to her about his divorce struggles. Eventually, they manage to track down Rina and save her from trouble, as her drug dealer claims that she still owes him 5,000 dollars. Michael has his moment to shine, as he beats up the goons and even has to pick Ariana up and carry her out of the building. At the end of the episode, he reveals that he has even been able to recover the earrings that Ariana had offered to the goons to pay off her friend’s debts. This, in turn, leads to the two sharing a passionate kiss, for they had been developing some romantic chemistry throughout the episode. However, they also part ways since Ariana has to return to LA for work, but the two might actually become a couple in the future. Either way, Ariana Madix should not be expected to appear often in Will Trent, even if she does return, and will perhaps only be a guest in certain episodes.
Does Angie find her romantic connection as well?
Will Trent season 3 episode 8 also features another new character, in the form of Dr. Seth McDale, whom Angie meets by the side of the highway when her car breaks down. As she has to get out and fix the issue with her car, a car hits a cyclist and speeds past without even stopping. Angie rushes to help the cyclist and drives him to the nearest hospital, where she even fills out the form for him. She initially helps the man out only to be a good soul, or perhaps even out of guilt, as Seth himself points out later in the episode. After all, had Angie not stopped in the cycle lane wrongly, Seth would not have had to go past her car, and he would not have been hit by the car either. However, by the end of the episode, both Seth and Angie develop a genuine romantic interest in each other, and he asks her out on a proper date, to which Angie immediately agrees. This romantic connection is surely going to be further developed in the episodes to come, and we might actually see Angie find the love of her life soon.
