Will Trent season 3: Release date, cast, plot, trailer, and everything we know so far

The third season of Will Trent is going to premiere in 2025, and we can’t wait. This was a series that we hoped to see in fall 2024, but ABC made a strategic decision that is for the benefit of the series. With a January return, it means there won’t need to be many breaks in the schedule.

The third season picks up off the back of Will Trent arresting Angie. It looks like there is a time jump with Angie released, but what does this mean for their relationship moving forward? There are some new faces coming into the season, with Gina Rodriguez and Scott Foley confirmed so far.

Will Trent premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 8/7c on ABC.

Who’s in the Will Trent cast for Season 3?

Ramón Rodriguez as Will Trent

Will, whose trademark is 3-piece suits, is assigned some of the GBI’s most difficult cases because he can read a crime scene like no one else, a skill he has learned to help cope with his dyslexia after being abandoned at birth and raised in the harshness of Atlanta’s foster care system.

Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski

Like Will, Angie was raised in the foster care system and like him, she is in law enforcement, but she’s a member of the Atlanta Police Department. Angie is also her own worst enemy when it comes to her personal life.

Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell

Faith is a former member of the Atlanta Police Department, who was brought over to the GBI by her godmother Amanda Wagner to work with Will. She and Will got off to a rocky start but they have found a groove that enables them to work together.

Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner

Amanda is Will’s boss at the GBI and the police officer who saved his life when he was discarded as a baby. She is also best friends with Faith’s mother, Evelyn Mitchell, from their days serving on the Atlanta PD together.

Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood

Ormewood is a veteran detective and Angie’s partner on the APD Homicide division. He is the father of two and is facing serious problems with his marriage.

Bluebell as Betty

Betty is the Chihuahua that Will adopted in the pilot episode because he couldn’t abandon her as he had been abandoned as a baby.

RECURRING CHARACTERS

Cora Lu Tran as Nico

Cora Lu Tran is back as Nico, Betty’s dogwalker who lives in Will’s garage.

Who will join the cast of Will Trent in Season 3?

Gina Rodriguez

Gina Rodriguez will portray Marion Alba, a charismatic, confident Assistant District Attorney new to Atlanta, who ends up working with Will.

Scott Foley

Scott Foley will recur in Season 3. He will play Dr. Seth McDale, the confident head of  emergency medicine at a local hospital and Angie’s new romantic interest.

Ariana Madix

Also, Ariana Madix will appear in a guest role, Variety revealed, playing herself on a visit to Atlanta for work and hiring Ormewood to provide security for a friend’s intervention.
