Will Trent Star Confirms Bigger Cases & Life Changes For Will In Season 3
Will Trent star Ramón Rodríguez has confirmed bigger cases and life changes for Will in season 3, with plenty of surprises that are yet to arrive. Will Trent season 3 has featured some big moments in the show already, including an introductory case the GBI team investigated over the span of two episodes. There’s also prevalent tension between Will (Rodríguez) and Angie (Erika Christensen), who haven’t worked together since he placed her under arrest in the season 2 finale. These developments hint at some very eventful episodes ahead.
Speaking with Collider, Rodríguez explained how there will be some big life changes for Will in Will Trent season 3, his relationship with Angie being at the forefront of this new era.
The star also confirmed there will be more multi-part cases like in the season’s first two episodes, hyping up both massive cases for the team and exciting guest stars who will be involved. Check out what Rodríguez had to say below:
We’re in the middle of filming right now. We’re past the halfway point. There are some really difficult things coming up for Will that are new things that we’ve never seen, that end up changing him potentially forever. It’s exciting that we’re still finding new things that get us excited, as actors and creators, but the writers have just continually stepped up. We wanna just keep finding new plot twists and interesting things. Where the Angie-Will story goes is gonna be really interesting for people. What we do a lot of, throughout the season, which I’m very excited about as well, is that we do cases that go on beyond just one episode. That’s great because you get more invested. It also means we get to have a great guest cast. I feel like our guest cast this season has been incredible. The folks that we’ve had come in and play with us in certain roles have been really, really wonderful, and that’s something that you get to do when it’s not just case of the week.
What Rodríguez’s Statement Means For Will Trent Season 3
Cases & Life Events Will Progress Steadily Forward
It was previously confirmed that Angie and Will’s reunion will happen in season 3, episode 4, where they’ll discuss what happened at the end of Will Trent season 2. This will seemingly lead to the pair breaking off their longstanding romance, with Marion Alba (Gina Rodriguez) already hinted to be the main character’s next love interest. His former romantic partner is getting one of her own, too, when Dr. Seth McDale (Scott Foley) arrives in season 3, episode 8. These life changes signify just how different the show will become as the story progresses.
Another important change is cases that last for multiple episodes, with this latest one resolved with the arrest of a police officer who killed another, trying to pin it on a gang leader while kidnapping his daughter. The harrowing events of the two-parter required the amount of time it took, something that will no doubt be important for some other future cases. Since the cast of Will Trent is going to experience more challenges like what they faced in the first episodes, it might not be long until those multi-part investigations transpire.

Since there will be multiple cases that take more episodes to resolve, the show can use these changes to its benefit, morphing beyond the standard expectations of its genre.
